Ana, the World's Biggest Snoopy Fan

Meet Ana.  She is the curator of the world's largest private Snoopy memorabilia museum. That's not really her day job but she might as well start charging admission to her house because her collection is extensive.  So what kind of cake do you think she got?  Oh yeah!  (Say this like how Vector from Despicable Me says it.  Now who's laughing?  Oh yeah!)

What's that black stringy looking thingamajig on the board you ask?  It's the kite string for a limited edition Woodstock kite.  It's limited edition because I only made ONE and it's the ONE on the board.  You can see the kite in the next picture with the birthday girl.
White cake with graham cracker crumbles, marshmallow swiss meringue and chocolate filling.  Because Ana loves s'mores.
Happy Birthday Ana!

Creative Freedom!!!

I have a confession.
...
I'm a semi-practicing Catholic.  Phew!  Glad I got that off my chest.
Well...the Priest at the church that I semi-attend, his birthday was coming up and my die-hard Catholic mother wanted me to make her a cake...for the Priest.  I agreed but under one condition:  I have free license to execute whatever I desired.  She trusted me whole heartedly...because that's just how my mother is.  I had always wanted to do a bust cake but I didn't tell her that.

So...TADA!  This is what I made for my Priest.
Layered Yellow and White Cake with Raspberry Filling

How cool is my mother?  She took this to the Priest's birthday gathering donning the biggest smile on her face and pride in her eyes because her baby girl made it.

I got a full report when she got home.  Here is the shorthand version of what she said and my thoughts in [ ]:
Everyone loved the cake.  [Yay!  I never tire of hearing or seeing this.]
No one knows what it tastes like because no one would cut the cake.  [WTF?  I mean WWJD?  He'd cut the darn cake.  It's just cake, people!]

Happy Birthday Fr. Bosco!

The LV Monogram Canvas Beverly for a mere $1,770.00...

if it were actually made of leather.  But it's not.  It's cake.

And as cake, I assure you, it costs a lot less.  A lot less.  And tastier.  Much tastier.  Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too?  So who was this designer cake made for?

The smiling birthday girl with her cake.  Happy 25th birthday Maria!
The cake is a Kahlua pound cake with Kahlua buttercream.  It is covered in chocolate fondant and the Louis Vuitton symbols are all hand drawn.

"I wanna eat him, where do I start?"

How much do you love something that you'd be willing to get it tattooed on your body?  How much do you love something to get it tattooed over 3 inches big on your body?  Well, folks, aside from the guy that has a spiderman logo tattooed on his chest (such a cool tattoo, here it is), meet Gabriel, an aspiring 3D video game designer, Spiderman's 2nd biggest fan. So we needed to make him a cake that was as big as his love of Spiderman and we think we delivered on that.  Meet Spidey, he's a crouching 2'2" tall.  The cake is entirely edible (with the exception of his skeletal system) and he's made part key lime cake with cheesecake filling and any kid's favorite, rice krispies treat.

Yes, Gabriel was gobsmacked and he couldn't wait to dig in.  But he didn't know where to start since the entire thing was edible.

 Happy Birthday Gabriel!
Love,
Spiderman's 3rd biggest fan

The Few. The Proud. He's a Marine!

This is the celebratory graduation cake we made for Pfc. A Camacho.  The design is inspired by the Marines' dress blues.  It is strawberry cake with lemonade buttercream.  The cake is tinted red and the buttercream yellow because those are the colors of the Marines.

We are so proud of him and thankful to all the troops.

"Not just any truck...HIS truck."

For those of you who are not car savvy, like me, the above is a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado SS extended cab.  Rosa Maria wanted to throw her husband a 40th birthday party and she wanted the theme to be his dream car which he was fortunate to have already owned.  Yes, people, there are people amongst us who's dream cars happen not to be lamborghinis and other two seater cars.  So this is the cake that we made for Rosa Maria's husband.  A rum cake with coconut buttercream in the shape of his truck.

And because the truck was not manly enough, I added the number '40' on the bed and made gumpaste chain links to hold it down.  The license plate is blurred because it's his actual plate printed with edible ink so he could eat it if he chose.

"I tawt I taw a boiday cake"

This cake was for Lourdes, my mother-in-law, or as I refer to her as 'mom' ...as does my daughter (but that's a whole new post).  She's a big fan of Tweety and loves Sanibel (she's been vacationing there yearly for over 26 years now) so what better way is there than to make a beach themed birthday cake with Tweety as the topper.

Top and bottom layers:  White Russian cake with Kahlua buttercream
Middle layer:  Vanilla Champagne cake with raspberry buttercream
Chocolate seashells, starfish, sand dollars
100% edible including Tweety

Happy birthday mom!
